Pace
our story
From two schoolmates to an
African Software OEM
James Zwane and Marlon Murahwa started Pace Online in 2012 — two
schoolmates with no clients and no outside investment, answering a
question nobody in South African ICT was answering well: who builds
the software that takes analog operations online? The early years
were one sale at a time — PHP websites, Joomla portals and custom
builds won by being responsive when bigger agencies weren't.
In 2015 Enterprise iLembe became our first major client; they are
still with us today. From there we went into the field — digitising
paper-based systems, building municipal extranets and SMS/WhatsApp
services that reached hundreds of thousands of residents — then into
mobile apps, government panels and our own products. What started as
two people building websites in Kempton Park is now an African
Software OEM with five products in market.
